 We are looking for a full-time Commissioning Agent to join our Richmond office. This position reports to our Director of Construction. 

Purpose

A Commissioning Agent’s role is to schedule, organize, witness and report on commissioning activities. You are the face and voice of the Company during the construction and commissioning phase of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare specifications for the commissioning of HVAC systems for specific projects.

  • Prepare commissioning plans.

  • Prepare pre-start up and start-up commissioning checklists for specific HVAC systems and sub-systems.

  • Prepare functional performance test plans for specific HVAC systems and subsystems.

  • Review shop drawings related to the commissioning of HVAC systems.

  • Review checklists and functional performance tests provided by Contractors.

  • Organize the commissioning team and schedule commissioning events.

  • Responsible for representing Thompson Consulting Engineers and the customer in commissioning of the HVAC systems.

  • Preparing and witnessing Pre-functional Checks (PCs) and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs)

  • Assist the contractor in facilitating Owner’s Training.

  • Review of Operation and Maintenance Support Information (OMSI) Manuals

  • Preparation and/or review of Final Commissioning Report.

  • Work independently with limited direction.

  • Mentor and monitor the professional development of other potential commissioning employees.

  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design review, comment, and recommendations for 3rd party commissioning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience with mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing trades

  • 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial new construction/ renovation work

  • 5 years of experience in commissioning commercial or industrial new construction/ renovation work

  • Trades license, design experience, or BAS controls experience a plus

  • Commissioning certification or willingness/ability to get a certification from an industry recognized organization within a calendar year.

Additional Experience/Skills

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive applications.

  • Be proficient in written and verbal communication.

  • Assist design engineers in initial field work and to investigate constructability of project.

Salary Range is $80,000 - $115,000 a year, commensurate with experience.
